Rev. Theodis Hadley

Rev. Theodis Hadley March 31, 1921 - Aug. 1, 2014 ELKHART - Pastor Theodis Hadley passed away quietly at his home Friday, August 1. Pastor Hadley was 93 years old. A U.S. Army WW ll veteran, Pastor Hadley was a graduate of the Chicago Baptist Institute and was the recipient of numerous Honorary Doctoral Degrees. Dr. Hadley's impact on the community is evident through the numerous civic, community and religious affiliation awards bestowed upon him in recognition of his lifetime of achievements. He served as pastor at Canaan Baptist Church for 37 years. Surviving him are his children, Eugenia (Warren) Bratton of Naperville, IL, Theodis (Lucille) Hadley, Jr. of Auburndale, FL, Isaac (LaVerne) Hadley, Burnita (Daryck) Barnett, Clara Hadley, and daughter-in-law, Sonia Hadley, all of Elkhart. A brother, Luther Clayton of Mobile, AL, and stepchildren, Craig Anderson of Chicago, IL, Douglas Anderson of Elkhart and Lisa (Adarin) Hawkins of Maryland, also survive him along with twenty-one grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grand-children. Pastor Hadley was preceded in death by wife and mother of his children, Jannie Mae Hadley; wife, LaVerne Hadley; and sons, Elmo and Rev. Michael Hadley. A musical tribute and visitation is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, August 8 at Canaan Baptist Church, 933 Fieldhouse, Elkhart; with a viewing one hour before the 11:00 a.m. Celebration of Life Service on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery. Cobb Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
