Bettie Badie Obituary
August 25, 1933 - March 15, 2023
Columbus, Georgia - Mrs. Bettie C. Badie passed away quietly Wednesday at Rivertowne Nursing Facility at the age of 89. A native of Columbus, GA and the daughter of the late Horace and Lillie Johnson Arnold, Mrs. Badie resided in California for 18 years, retiring from University of California, at Berkeley's Science Lab. She also held employment at Coffee's Drug Store and the Dixie Theater. She was a senior member of New Birth New Beginning Church. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking and baking, gardening and the art of canning. Other than her husband, Nealon Badie, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Dorne and seven siblings, Maggie Gray, Geoffrey Arnold, Edward Arnold, Horace Arnold, James Arnold, Ellis Arnold and Shirley Benton.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Street, Cynthia Whetstone (Edward) and Barbara J. Jones (Milton); six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchilden; four siblings, Vera Furse (Clarence), Pastor Claudette Moss (Pastor Bernard), Jeroline Whitehead (Willie) and Dorothy Arnold (Joe); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Badie will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park on Thursday, March 23, 2023 following an Eleven O'clock AM Homegoing Celebration in the sanctuary of New Birth New Beginning Church with her sister, Pastor Claudette Moss officiating. Visitation is 2:00 til 5:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Progressive Funeral Home staff is privileged to serve the Badie family.
