Charles Cole Obituary

Charles R. Cole October 25, 1930- September 25, 2005 PHENIX CITY, AL— Charles R. Cole, 74, of Phenix City, AL. died Sunday, September 25, 2005 at the Medical Center. Funeral services , with full military honors, will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at the Infantry Center Chapel with the Rev. Homer Cole and the Rev. Steve Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. Mr. Cole was born on October 25, 1930 in Columbus, GA., son of the late Annie Poteat Cole and Robert A. Cole. He was a retired veteran of the Korean war, where he was wounded and received a medical discharge. He was a member of Cusseta Methodist Church, served on the City Council of Cusseta and also Mayor Pro Tem, Justice of the Peace. He was a life member of the VFW, American Legion, and DAV. He was a past President of Cusseta Lions Club. He was a coach for the Eastern Little League and was one of the founders of The Cusseta Little League. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of thirty two years, Earlene; a daughter, Judith Lynn; brothers, Edward Arlen Cole; a sister, Kathleen Godkin. Survivors include his wife, Carlean B. Cole of Phenix City; sons, Charles R. Cole, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kim of Columbus, Donald Earl Cole and daughter-in-law Gabrielle of Fortson, GA., Mark Alan Cole of Jackson, GA.; ; stepsons, Randy Cook, Davy Cook and Rickey Cook; sisters, Mildred Thompson of Conway, SC., Becky Campbell of Tendoy, ID., Glenda Ferguson of Thomaston, GA.; brothers, William T. Cole of Thomaston, Cecil M. Cole of Ivey, GA., Rev. Homer L. Cole of Conway, SC., Willie F. Cole of Phenix City; grandchildren, Donald Earl Cole, Jr., Evan Renee Cole, Charles R. Cole, III, Alex Katlyn Cole, Kylee Amber Cole; fourteen step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
