Charlotte Pope Obituary

Charlotte McDaniel
Stone Pope
June 29, 1951-
October 8, 2016
Harris County, GA- Charlotte McDaniel Stone Pope, 65, passed away in her home in Harris County, GA on Saturday, October 8, 2016.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. 31907 with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Charlotte was born on June 29, 1951, to Betty McDaniel and the late Claude McDaniel.
She is a 1969 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School. Her kindness towards people and her sweet nature to extend a helping hand to others was apparent in her career choices as well. She worked in Human Resources for several companies - Cott Beverages, Medical Center and Synovus and was involved in SHRM for many years. She also worked for Jostens and most recently as an office clerk at Aaron Cohn Middle School. Charlotte retired in November 2015 to spend more time with her family.
Charlotte devoted her entire life to her beloved husband, family, and friends. She made holidays and birthdays special for those she loved dearly. Charlotte loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and was their biggest fan in whatever they chose to do - sports, school plays, working with animals, attending college, cutting hair, fighting fires, teaching and working with students, handling emergency calls, etc. She also loved to cook, read Danielle Steele novels, shop, decorate her home, and vacation in Florida and the mountains with her husband and family.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her father, Claude E. McDaniel, stepson, Tommy Pope, niece, Jennifer S. Smith, maternal grandparents, Addist and Birdie Gilbert; and paternal grandparents, James and Louise McDaniel.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dan Pope, two sons, James R. "Ricky" Stone, Jr. (Alissa) of Columbus, GA and Jason Stone (Tina) of Harris County, GA; stepdaughter, Dannell Pope Fogal (James) of Auburn, AL, stepson Patrick Pope (Lois) of Harris County, GA; grandchildren Khelsi Stone, Abigail Stone, Kennedy Stone, Connor Fogal, Autumn Stone, Tucker Stone, Logan Fogal, Jayden Stone, Adam Pope, Olivia Pope and Luke Pope; great-granddaughter, Delanie Graham; mother, Betty Gilbert Cosby (Larry); brother, Glen McDaniel (Melinda); sister, Brenda McDaniel Smith (Charlie "Bo"); many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and her sweet and very much spoiled Dachshund, Charleigh Browyn.
We heard the bell toll; our sweet angel got her wings!

I have been very blessed to have you as my "bestie" for the last 22 years. All I can say is this happended way too soon and none of us were prepared for this. I am missing our talks and continual laughs. You brought so much joy to me and my family. I was thinking about the Michael Bolton concert and when you put the wooden mouse in the company bathroom thinking I was going to run out of the bathroom screaming and when we were going to lunch one day while we worked together at Columbus Regional and were just laughing and then you side swiped the wall in the exit ramp. Your vocabluary was hilarious and then you said "Don't tell Dan, he might not notice." I miss our weekly lunches and so much more. Everyone who had the pleasure of being in your life was truly blessed by God.
