MIDLAND, GEORGIA- Crystal Whipple Beals, 73, passed away on December 15, 2012. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus at 5:00 PM with Rev. Hilton Gillespie officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 PM until service time.
Mrs. Beals was born on September 21, 1939 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She graduated from Columbus High School, Class of 1958 and had lived in Midland all of her life. Mrs. Beals began her career with Flournoy Construction Company in 1968, and during her 28 year tenure she served as President of Flournoy Properties, Inc. and upon retirement was Vice President of Human Resources and Training. She also served on the Board of Directors for Flournoy Development, Flournoy Construction Company and Flournoy Properties, Inc. Mrs. Beals enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Midland United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray LeRay Whipple and Frances Awbrey Whipple and a sister, Harriet Dudley Whipple.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Clyde R. Beals, III of Midland, GA; four daughters, Reneé Moon (Donald LaMee) of Midland, GA, Michelle Loudermilk of Midland, GA, Donna (Steve) Reed of Columbus, GA and Barbara (Lynn) Cosby of Dothan, AL; eight grandchildren, Robert Moon, Crystal Loudermilk, Jacob Loudermilk, Travis Reed, Troy Reed, Michael Cosby, Jonathan Cosby and Joshua Cosby; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Loudermilk and Gracie Reed.

I am so sorry to hear this news about Chris. Bobby, Renee and Michelle, I haven't seen y'all since we moved down to Florida in the early 70's. I had just gotten back in touch with your mom this past year through Facebook. I'm so sorry for your loss and our prayers are with you and your families.

I worked with Chris @ Flournoy for many years and she was definitely a mentor to me and many others. She was not only beautiful on the outside but also the inside.
