Dr. David T.W. Chi July 6, 1918 - October 6, 2004 PHENIX CITY, AL - Dr. David T.W. Chi, 86, of Phenix City, AL died Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held today, October 8 at 11:00 AM EDT, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Rodney Mitchell and Dr. Eugene Langner officiating. Entombment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus. Active pallbearers will be Bill Perdue, Rudy Harris, Cecil Curtis, Neal Kindred, Joe Fletcher, Dr. David White and Dr. Gary Dillard. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Howard Weldon, Dr. Jim Owens and the Phenix City Rotary Club members. Dr. Chi was born July 6, 1918 in Nanking, China son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Shi Jing Chi. Dr. Chi graduated from St. John's University with a BS degree and later graduated with a medical degree. He came to America in 1947 and served his internship at the Medical Center in Columbus, GA. He began an active practice in 1949 in Phenix City, AL and continued his practice until retirement. He was Chief of Staff for the former Cobb Memorial Hospital and Phenix Regional Hospital in Phenix City, AL. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and received the rank of major upon leaving the military. He was a member of First Christian Church of Phenix City, AL where he served as a deacon. He was a life long member of the Phenix City Rotary Club where he received the designation of a Paul Harris Fellow. While on the Board of Phenix City Parks and Recreation he was instrumental in the construction of the Walking Trail at Moon Lake. Dr. Chi is preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy Anne Chi. He is survived by his wife Josie Mena Chi of Phenix City, AL; a daughter, Claire C. Kindred and husband, Bryan Neal Kindred of Tuscaloosa, AL.; a sister, Helen Chi of Phenix City, AL; and two grandchildren, David O'Neal Kindred and Anne Elise Kindred. Flowers will be accepted but those wishing may make contributions to the Alabama Heart Association or to First Christian Church of Phenix City, AL.

DR. CHI AND JOSSIE WERE MY NEIGHBOR AND GOOD FRIEND FOR MANY YEARS.

MY SINCERE SYMPATHY TO JOSSIE AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS. WISH I COULD BE WITH THEM AT THIS SAD TIME, BUT MY HEALTH PROBLEMS WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO TRAVEL TO PHENIX CITY.
