Doyle Wright was an uncle to be remembered. He never said a harsh word to anyone in my memory nor failed to share his smile and laugh on all occasions. Doyle and Uncle Speck were the true celebrities in the lives of my sister Judy and I ( Bubba). I would spend weeks with their mother and my grandmother Mae Wright (Momma Mae)and Huey Elmer Wright (Grand Daddy Wright) in Magnolia Springs, just a few miles from Plains, Georgia. Saturday nite was Square Dance Night with Daddy Wright collecting the gate fee of two dollars or less depending on how well known you were and Uncle Speck and Doyle giving me last instructions on selling long neck beer as well as which table to get under when the fighting started. Fights started every time with Speck putting his guitar down and diving over the band stand rail into every fray. Uncle Doyle kept the music going which always helped to calm the crowd. As a former Marine, (Doyle survived Paris Island, South Carolina to become one) he could have chosen to participate in the fight but I know he wanted to be always known as having a kind and gentle spirit. He told me several weeks ago that no one knows how bad it is to loose your health. It is my belief that he is in the Amighty God Jehovah's memory, acquitted of his sins through death and will live again in the coming New Heavens and New Earth through the Resurrection promised by our Savior Jesus Christ. It is my hope to see Doyle again and hear his wonderful distinctive laugh that always brought enjoyment to me and a smile to everyone's face.

Uncle Doyle was also my favorite uncle. He was always cheerful and funny with a big smile on his face. Ever since I was a little girl, he would always greet me by saying, "Hey, Judi Mae". I was named after my grandmother Mae Wright, Doyle's mother and he knew I didn't like to be called by my middle name. Now I love my middle name and I loved my Uncle Doyle and will miss him. I also remember when I was about 10 he and Aunt Melba came to visit us in Hawkinsville, Ga. and they gave me a new pair of skates. I thought I was really something with those skates and loved them both dearly for thinking of me and giving me those skates. Those were the good ole days. Butch, I love you too and know that you will really miss your dad and your best friend. Your cousin, Judi.

Doyle was a relative of my father, "Bill" Griffin. I remember watching the "Speck & Doyle" show when I was a kid. Doyle's time here on earth created a lot of fond memories for many folks. My condolences to the family of a great man.

Because of Doyle’s talent and music many people knew and loved Doyle. What people saw on the stage was just a glimpse of the real man and his value. I knew Doyle as a kid and saw him through the eyes of a child. What I saw was a man with a great heart. He was kind, generous, and treated people the way he wished to be treated. Probably the best vacation I ever had was with him and Butch when we went to “Six Flag Over Georgia.” The first time I saw the Ocean was when I went on vacation to Panama City Beach with them. Other memories I have are of playing baseball, not at his house, but in his house! One time, Butch and I climbed through his window and watched TV in a tent in the backyard. These are all great memories of Doyle, but the best thing Doyle did for me was to show me how to be a father. He was a great father to his son Butch. They had a relationship that I always envied. He was my role model as a father. I strive to have the same relationship with my sons. I will miss “Bob.”

My best wishes to the family of Doyle. I was a contemporary of his and also in the music business. Doyle was a sincere and serious musician.

When I was about 3 or 4 years old, my mother took me to see the Doyle and Speck at WRBL. I cannot remember which one was seeing my Mother at the time but I do remember being called up to the mike and standing on a chair. Whichever brother it was asked me who I was and I said, you know me, you are my mama's boyfriend.

Uncle Doyle was the best uncle. As a little girl when I would visit my grandparents Uncle Doyle would always let me spend time with him and Butch. Uncle Doyle would take us to the Villa Nova to eat and then we would be off to wrestling. These are some of my fondest memories. Uncle Doyle the fun one. I loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
