SHELBY, NC- Edna Eugenia Pounds Miles, 94, Shelby, North Carolina, and a long time resident of Columbus, Georgia, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, March 24, 2012.
Edna was born October 3, 1917 in Columbia, Houston County, Alabama…the oldest and only surviving child of Alto Leon Pounds and Emma Kate Walker Pounds. She was the mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother of a large extended family.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Wyatt Wilson Miles, Sr., siblings, Jewel Allen, Newman, Georgia, Ruby Pounds, Miami, Florida, Roy Pounds, Port Orange, Florida, Mildred Collins, Jessup, Georgia and Walter Pounds, Miami, Florida.
She is survived by nine children: Wyatt Wilson Miles, Jr., Saucier, Mississippi, Edward Miles, Hickory Tavern, South Carolina, Harold Miles, Smiths, Alabama, Perry Miles, Reuben Miles, Mattaponi, Virginia, Edna Greene, Shelby, North Carolina, Gerald Miles, Pensacola, Florida, Catherine Barton, Cataula, Georgia and Sara Minick, Powder Springs, Georgia.
She was a Christian by faith and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Shelby, North Carolina.
A grave side service will be held at Riverdale Cemetery, Columbus, Georgia on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 1:00 PM, conducted by long time friend, Bobby Owens.
Cecil Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Shelby, North Carolina is serving the family.
