George Dewey Bateman, Jr. September 26, 2004 ALABASTER, AL - Mr. George Dewey Bateman, Jr., 78, of Alabaster, Ala., passed away Sunday, Sept. 26, at his home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. EST Saturday, Oct. 2 from the Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol, followed by interment. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. EST at the cemetery, according to Adams Funeral Home, Inc., Blountstown, Fla. Mr. Bateman was born in Bristol and had lived in Alabaster for several months. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bateman of Alabaster; a son, Jerry Bateman and his wife Carol of Oviedo, Fla.; a daughter, Joy Martin and her husband Steve of Alabaster; two brothers, Vance Bateman of Altha and AV Bateman of Port St. Joe; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
