Grady Welch Obituary

Grady C. Welch April 30, 1921- February 17, 2008 COLUMBUS, GA— Grady C. Welch, 86, of Columbus, GA. died Sunday, February 17, 2008 in Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008 in Parkhill cemetery with Gary Beus officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Welch was born April 30, 1921 in Buena Vista, GA., the son of the late George W. Welch and the late Neta F. McCorkle Welch. He had lived in Columbus for the past sixty years and was a veteran of Army Air Force. Mr. Welch retired from Raymond Rowe Furniture Store as a salesman and was a member of Morningside Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verlin Welch. Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Ann Welch Portante and her husband Robert of Madison, AL. and Jean W. Beus and her husband Gary of Marietta, GA.; one brother, Charles Eugene Welch of Cumming, GA.; one sister, Margaret Revell of Plains, GA.; three granddaughters, Sarah Beus, Lindsey Beus and Kelly Beus Thorpe; two great grandsons, Jack Allen Thorpe and Owen Scott Thorpe; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
