Jerry, Johnny, Dickey Barrow, would play the summers away from morning to night in the summers. What great fun we had. Lots of fond memories with Coach Wood and the Northern Little League Pirates.

Our Granny and I would take the bus during the summers while we were children. Him growing up in Columbus, Ga & me (his cousin) growing up in No Augusta, SC. I spent much time in the middle of the Wood boys. (Jerry & I were only months apart in age). He taught me how to ride a mini bike, to wrestle & box, along with a little help from Johnny. :) As we became adults life & miles kept us apart but we always found time to get back in touch when we could. Jerry & I had truly reconnected over the past 4or 5 months & it was often I would wake up in the morning with a heartfelt uplifting text from him that started my day with a smile. Then there were texts that would send me to bed at night laughing so hard, sleep was impossible. I will miss him greatly, but he left behind a legacy of kindness, forgiveness, and humor that will live on through those he loved & that loved him. I just know there is a special lake in Heaven for him to fish from & his mom (Aunt Barbara) right there beside him. Much love goes with you, Jerry.

Jerry was without a doubt the most unselfish, kind, loving, and humorous person I have ever met. I could listen to him and his brother Johnny for days, they were so funny and absolutely loved each other unconditionally. Jerry always thought of his family first and was so proud of all of his children. I will miss his smile, laughter, quick wit, and love so very much. I will miss his loving texts and hysterical comments on anything and everything. Even while his body was failing all he cared about was his kids and us to make sure we were o.k. He had us all laughing and smiling as his body gave up. He loved his mom Barbara so much and he wanted to go home', to be with her and God. Oh Jerry what a great man you are,

Jerry was the bravest and most unselfish person I have ever known. He always put his family and their needs before himself. He was always dependable and a hard worker. He loved his children and always wanted the best for them. He had 2 brothers Johnny and Jeff. His Father, John and wife, Judy along with his Brother, Johnny and wife, Julie, were there comforting him during this sad time. We know he is Heaven now with his Mother he loved so much.
