Phenix City, Alabama - Mr. Jimmie Lee Upshaw, 73,of Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in Columbus, GA.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. EST, Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at St. Peter A.M.E Church (old cemetery) with Rev. Michael Miller, officiating. Visitation is Monday, September 27, 2021 from 12-5 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Upshaw was born December 14,1947 in Pittsview, AL to the late Charlie Upshaw and Sadie Mae Jackson.
Survivors include his daughters, Shanise Whittlesey-Thomason and Sharone Whittlesey; brothers, Ulysses Upshaw (Jessie), O.C. Jackson (Remona), Tommy Jackson (Claudine), John Jackson (Earnestine), Johnnie Lee Jackson, Charles Upshaw, Jessie Jackson and Arthur Jackson; sisters, Sadie Floyd (Tony), Gloria Brunson, Izola Upshaw, Betty Upshaw Rutherford, Lucille Upshaw Mitchell, Rebecca Hamilton Howard; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Condolences to the family, have know Jimmy over 40 yrs. He gave our son his first (1st) haircut, when he went off to college he would come home every week for those hair cuts. He used to tease Jimmy and say " no one in Atlanta can cut my hair like you" jimmy was a awesome friend to my family. Jimmy will be truly missed! RIH

Jimmy Lee was a blessing to my family. While my father (Ernest Caldwell) battled cancer many years ago, Jimmy Lee made his way to the hospital to make sure my dad had a fresh cut and shave. One call and he was there! He could have very well said he was busy, but he always showed up! We're forever thankful and grateful for his gratitude. Prayers and many blessing to his family and friends.
