On this day, I light this candle of the many sacrifices and contributions that you made to your country. You were an outstanding and honorable serviceman and I value the services that you rendered in the 27 years of being a great leader in the U.S. Army. I love and miss you every day of my life. Happy Veteran Day Scott. Love, "VJ"

My favorite photo of SGM, it seems as if this smile never left his face.

SGM Scott,
You have the single greatest impact of any person on my life. I am currently writing a paper for my ROTC class about the person who most helped you prepare to become a leader and I can think of no other person. Your welcoming presence and helping nature give me motivation to be like you. I thank you for everything you have done to help me improve as a person, and I'm glad to have known you for as long as I did. You have a lasting impact on me, and I know that that holds true on many other people.

Continue to think of you daily out of guilt as I have come to deal with that by the grace of God, but because the first day that I met you I declared to my mother that you were the most amazing person that I had ever met. My heart literally aches without your presence but I know that you would want me to live each day to the best of my ability and to Trust God to see me through. I love you and I miss you more than I ever thought was possible.

My dear SGM!! Was one of the best men alive. He had nothing but genuine love in his heart for anybody he met. I always think about SGM and what he would do or what advice he would give me for a certain situation. My father wasn't around when I was growing up but when I meet SGM he was my father figure. And I don't think he ever knew how much he ment to me. But sometime we would just sit after Drill Team practice or school and just talk about life. He's the person that would ALWAYS!!! Be there for another in a time of need. I will never forget this Great! Great! man. I hope your doing better miss Scott and my prayers go out to you.

I would be lying if I didn't say that I wish that you were still here. A year has past and I am still in shock that you are no longer here. Not that I will ever forget you, but my heart aches daily because you are not here.

There is not a day that does not go by that I don't think of you and I know that you know that because you have one become one of my guardian angels. I miss you so much and this place, meaning the little corner of the world that we shared is no longer the same without your presence, and very often that still saddens me, but I am trying hard not to be sad because you are in a better place and you lived such a happy life. Scott, you truly are my hero and I do love you. "VJ"

SGMajor Scott will always hold a special place at DCHS. Not only was he our 1st JROTC SGMajor but what a special person! He could walk into a room and light it up with those big bright eyes and smile. He truly loved his job and what an impact he had not only on his cadets but the entire school. SGMajor Scott was a once in a life time person. He truly touched my life and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
