Hurtsboro, AL- Mr. Levi Jelks, Sr., 94, of 800 Railroad Street, Hurtsboro, AL passed Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. EST (1:00 p.m. CST), Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, Hurtsboro, Al with Rev. Chris Nunn, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Hurtsboro, AL. Visitation is Friday, September 23, 2016 from 1 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Jelks was born August 18, 1922 in Guerryton, AL to the late George Jelks and the late Laura Pearl Randolph Jelks.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Gamble of Montgomery, AL; Claydene (Alfonso) Robinson and Jeanette (Grady) Marshall both of Phenix City, AL; five sons, Levi (Kim) Jelks and Fredrick Jelks both of Atlanta, GA; Lawrence (Juanita) Jelks, Kenneth Jelks and Johnny Lee Calhoun all of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Pearlie Jelks of East Chicago, IN; 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
