Mack Dillard Obituary

Mack Warren Dillard July 27, 1923 - December 19, 2005 COLUMBUS, GA — Mack Warren Dillard, 82, of Columbus, died Monday, December 19, 2005 at Twin Pines of Pine Manor. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21 in Liberty Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Cusseta, Ga., with the Rev. Jim Hilderbrand officiating. Family will receive friends after the graveside service at their family farm house, 502 Patterson Road in Cusseta, Ga. Mr. Dillard was born July 27, 1923 in Cusseta, Ga., the son of the late Martha Virginia Bridges Dillard and William Franklin Dillard. He retired as Senior Vice President of Suntrust Bank, and had served as a Lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II. Mr. Dillard was a member of Liberty Hill Methodist Church in Cusseta, Ga., and he attended First Baptist Church in Columbus. He was also a former member of Kiwanis Club of Columbus and Allied Officers Club at Fort Benning. Mr. Dillard was a graduate of Cusseta High School, a 1948 graduate of Auburn University with a B.A. Degree in Business, and a graduate of Rutgers University Banking School. He was a member of Military Order of the World Wars. He received the Junior Achievement Awards for service Boy Scouts Appreciation Award, Allied Officers Appreciation from Fort Benning, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Dillard Eldridge and his brother, George Kenneth Dillard. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Virginia Benefield Dillard of Columbus; a daughter, Paula Virginia Dillard Hecht of Columbus; two sons, Warren Bridges Dillard of Columbus, and William "Bill" Starling Dillard and daughter-in-law, Angela Johnston Dillard of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Una Dillard Connell of Arlington, Va.; and a grandson, Jay Benjamin Hecht, IV of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity or Vista Care Hospice, 850 Brookstone Centre Pkwy., Columbus, GA 31909.
