Columbus, GA- Mrs. Maggie Adell Lamb Mitchell, 81, of 2605 Tupelo Drive, Columbus, GA formerly of Smiths Station, AL passed on Friday, January 4, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. EST, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Smiths Station, AL with Rev. Jeffery McCauley, pastor and Rev. Otis L. Mitchell, eulogist. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Visitation is today from 2 - 8 p.m. EST with a family hour from 5 - 7 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. Mitchell was born on March 3, 1931 in Smiths Station, AL to the late Otis, Sr. and Janie Vaughn Lamb. She worked at Kirvens Department Store for over 27 years and at West Point Pepperell Mill. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and an Eastern Star.
Her survivors include four sons, Chief Warrant Officer 5 (Ret) U. S. Army Mickle C. (Darlene) Mitchell of Fayetteville, NC; Chaplain (Lt. Colonel) (Ret.) U.S. Army, Pastor Otis L. (Venita) Mitchell and Colonel (Ret.) U. S. Air Force Emmett J. (Sun Yon) Mitchell both of San Antonio, TX and Captain U.S. Army Reginald J. (Lawanda) Mitchell of Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Regina J. (Tyrone) Jefferson of Smiths Station, AL and Vivian N. (Allan) Martin of Phenix City, AL; one brother, Otis (Berthenia) Lamb, Sr. of Dallas/ Ft. Worth, TX; five sisters, Sara Wallace of San Jose, CA; Fannie Davis of Detroit, MI; Barbara (Clayton) Gay of San Antonio, TX; Willie (Dudley) Burrell of Kankakee, IL and Joyce (Tevester) Anderson of Jackson, MS; 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
