Mandy Surles Obituary

Mandy P. Surles November 10, 1923- August 14, 2007 COLUMBUS, GA— Mrs. Mandy Pritchett Surles passed Tuesday at the Columbus Hospice House. She was 83 years old and resided at 1545 Winshire Street, Columbus. Daughter of the late Charles and Leola Moore Pritchett, Mrs. Surles was born in Bullock County, Alabama on November 10, 1923. She was a member of God's Covenant Church where she was the Mother of the Church. She was a homemaker and wife of the late Mr. J. B. Surles. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jessie Mae Everett; a son, Johnny Surles; two brothers, Rufus Pritchett and Murphy Pritchett; and one sister, Mary Lee Smith. Survivors, include: five sons, James Surles of Mansfield, TX, Alfred Surles of Frankfurt, Germany, Albert Surles (Cheryl) of Iraq, Walter Surles  of Columbus and A. V. Flintroy (Sarah) of Detroit, MI; three daughters, Willie Mae Gill (William) of Stockbridge, GA, Annie Lawrence (Richard) of College Park, GA and Pamelia Burke (Dwayne) of Columbus; 27 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; four brothers, Willie Pritchett (Martha) of Tampa, FL, David Lee Pritchett (Mary Ann) of Newark, NJ, Charles Pritchett, Jr. of Boston, MA and Johnny Pritchett (Doris) of Montgomery, AL; five sisters, Viola Boswell of Columbus, Annie Ruth Henderson and Geneva Pritchett of Boston, MA, Hattie Martin and Mattie Martin of Union Springs, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Homegoing services for Mrs. Surles will be Monday, 1:00 PM at Bethany Worship Center, 4311 2nd Avenue, Columbus.  Pastor Woodie P. Russell will officiate. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, 2 til 5 PM at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 12:15 the day of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
