Martha Lindsay Gordy July 3, 1912 - June 11, 2007 PANAMA CITY, FL- Our Mother, Martha Lindsay Gordy went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 11, 2007 from her home on Panama City Beach, FL. She was born in Columbus, GA on July 3, 1912 and lived there most of her nearly 95 years. She was one of 5 children and survived by only two of them, Shepherd Keith Lindsay and Ruth Lindsay Gordy, both of Columbus. Mother came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age, in the home of her parents James Wesley and Lila Shepherd Lindsay. She grew up in the First Baptist Church, Columbus and became a charter member of the Wynnton Baptist Church (now Wynnbrook Baptist) when it was organized in 1928. She was active in that church until she and Daddy moved to Dothan and then Graceville, FL where she joined the First Baptist Church. Mother married her childhood sweetheart Julian Dunaway Gordy in 1935. They were still sweethearts when he died in 1988. When his health failed, Mother patiently, faithfully and lovingly nursed him for almost 10 years. We, their children, Julian Dunaway, Jr. (Dun), Ethel Lindsay Hall and Lila Ann Campbell rejoice in the good and Godly heritage they left us. They had 7 grandchildren: Gaines Bruce Hall of Germany, Michael Gordy, Oregon, Julieann Girello, Kristie Martens, Kara Campbell all of Florida, Janna Maslonka and Joli Campbell of Arizona. They had 7 great-grandchildren as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at Southerland Family Funeral Home, 100 E 19th St. Panama City, FL Wednesday, June 13, 5-7 PM. Graveside services will be held in Riverdale Cemetery, Columbus, GA on Thursday, June 14 at 2 PM. Her son Dr. Dun Gordy will be officiating.
