Cusseta, Georgia - Mary Jane Thornton 90, 553 HWY 137 Cusseta Ga. 31805 passed Thursday March 31 2016 at Gentiva Hospice Franciscan Woods Columbus. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 7, 2016 at 1:00 Pm Kingsville Baptist Church 288 Broad Street Cusseta, Ga., with Reverend James Gant, officiating, and Reverend D'Andre Gillespie, Pastor, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church cemetery, 145 Firetower Road, Cusseta, Ga., according to Hill-Watson Memorial Chapel Inc. at Rose Hill 2919 Hamilton Road Columbus, Ga. Visitation will be held today Wednesday April 6, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM family hour 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Mary Jane Thornton was born in Chattahoochee County, Georgia to the late George Washington Thomas and Hattie Elizabeth Powell Thomas. She peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home on March 31, 2016 where many of her love ones are smiling. Mary was preceded by her husband of 35 years, Walter C. Thornton; one daughter, Marilyn Thornton Hill, two son-in-laws, David C. Harvey and Moseo Robinson, two grandsons, Desharn Lamar Clayton, Reginald Terrell Clayton, two brothers, Ivery Thomas, Handson Thomas, three sisters, Annie Mae Thomas Gosha, Ida Lee Thomas Fulton, Rev. Susie Mae Thomas Gardner.
She leaves to cherish her memories eight children, Roxie Anna Harvey Robinson, Clementine (Erskine) Alexander, Walter W.(Clementine) Thornton all of Columbus, Ga; Alberta (Lee) Adams Bloomfield, CT; Darlene Jones, Killen
Texas, Susie (Dock)Foster, Cusseta, GA, Velma (Reverend Patrick) Ivey, Stone Mountain; Hattie Antoine, Jonesboro GA; two brother-in-laws, Seldon Thornton, Detroit MI, Nathaniel Gosha, Phenix City, AI; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, three extended family members, Billy Brown, Danelle Brown, Kevin Brown Four other foster children A host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
