Columbus, GA- Nell Noles Shelton, 95, of Columbus, GA died peacefully Monday, June 25, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all that knew her.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Evangel Temple with Rev. Paul Thomas, Rev. Watson McKemie, and Rev. Bud Rupel officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Shelton was born April 6, 1923 in Slocumb, AL to the late David Crockett Noles and the late Bessie Carrie Noles. She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God for 75 years where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. During her lifetime, she owned Shelton's Department Store, Shelton's Tax Service, and AAA Employment Agency. She loved her family and church and had a passion for flowers which led her to open a flower and gift shop later in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 57 years, Herndon Shelton, as well as her sisters, Julia Dixon and Mable Nichols, and brother, Samuel F. Noles.
She is survived by her sons, Tim Shelton (Linda) of Fortson, GA, Mike Shelton (Donna) of Peachtree City, GA, and Jeff Shelton (Donna) of Columbus, GA, her granddaughters, Ashley Shelton (Bentley), Hailee Shelton, Michele Shelton, Lindsey Shelton, and Jenna Shelton, as well as two great-grandchildren, Cash and Munroe Mixon, and nephews and niece, Jackie Garner (Beth), Ricky Garner, Lynda Anthony (Lamar), and Terry Dixon (Susan).
