Columbus, GA- Paula L. LaPorte, 54, of Columbus, GA died Monday, November 21, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th St. Columbus, GA 31904 with Reverend Bob Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. LaPorte was born March 6, 1957 in Vero Beach, FL daughter of the late Paul Smith and Edith Gant Milton. She was the Senior Vice President at Regions Bank.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Gerald J. LaPorte, Sr. of Columbus, GA, daughter, Nicole Bone (Stephen) of Columbus, GA, son, Gerald "Jerry" LaPorte, Jr. (Lisa) of Jacksonville, FL, sister, Louise Tarvin of Sebastian, FL, brothers, Richard Smith (Jeanette) of Vero Beach, FL and Steve Smith (Gloria) of Leesburg, FL, and one grandson, Cayden Bone of Columbus, GA.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society 233 12th St. Suite #710 Columbus, GA 31901.

Praying that God will comfort you in this time of loss. I worked with Paula for several years. She was always pleasant and brought light to those around her. I know she is free from pain and is at the right hand of her savior.

I am so very sorry for your loss of precious, beautiful Paula. We spent many hours together, enjoying decorating her home. We soon lost our client/designer relationship and became very close friends and I'll treasure that friendship forever. You were all so blessed to have her in your lives as I'm sure you've always known. From experience, God will give you the strength and comfort that you need in the time ahead. I am so saddened to read of Paula's passing. I have not seen her since we went to high school together in Vero Beach. Paula was such a sweet, kind and friendly girl; my prayers to her family and friends for your loss.

Our world will never be the same with out the laughter and love that Paula gave so freely.
