Raymond Waldrop Obituary

Raymond Paul Waldrop September 7, 1942 - April 18, 2004 PHENIX CITY, AL - Raymond Paul Waldrop, 61 of Phenix City died April 18 at his residence. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 20 at 11:00 A.M. in Lakeview Memory Gardens with Reverend Dan Nixon officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phenix City. Visitation will be this evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Waldrop was born September 7, 1942 in Columbus son of the late Elsie Wallace Waldrop and Raymond F. Waldrop. He was a lifelong resident of Phenix City. He was a retired educator, coach and athletic director of Baker High School, Jordan High School and Arnold Middle School. Mr. Waldrop was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Phenix City, played softball for the Columbus Red Softball Team and a member of the Muscogee County Educators Association. He was a graduate of Central High School and graduated from the University of Georgia where he played football and baseball. Survivors include his wife Pat Lonyay Waldrop of Phenix City; daughter, Stephanie Cox and husband Kimbrough of Phenix City; son, Dr. Wally Waldrop of Phenix City; two grandsons, Paul Waldrop III and Kyle Cox both of Phenix City; two aunts, Mary Adamson and LaRue Waldrop both of Alexander City, Ala. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Phenix City.

I just learned today that Coach Waldrop had passed away. I played on the Henry Co High School(McDonough GA) football team. So many memories. My prayers to the family - he was a great person.
