Columbus, Georgia- Rena Burkhalter, age 85, resident of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, March 18,2017 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, 2 p.m. with Father Jeremiah McCarthy officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus.
Mrs. Burkhalter, daughter of the late James Joseph Rabiotti and Christine Maud Crumpler, was born July 16, 1931 in London, England. She was a homemaker and Catholic by faith. Mrs. Burkhalter volunteered in the community for several years including over 30 years at Columbus Humane Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Columbus Burkhalter. Mrs. Burkhalter is survived by one daughter, Donna Burkhalter Davis of Columbus; two sons, David Nichols of Smyrna, Georgia and Russell Burkhalter and his wife Mary Jane of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Barbara Goody and her husband John of Perth, Australia; four grandchildren, Beth Ann Pettis and her husband Casey of Clearmont, Georgia, Angela Kent and her husband John of Yulee, Florida, Steven Burkhalter of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Ashley Crews-Little of Los Angeles, California; six great-grandchildren; very special cousin, Jean Orchard of Milton Keynes, England; many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to PAWS Humane Society, 4900 Milgen Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Condolences may be offered at www.shcolumbus.com.

Oh how I have such fond memories of this wonderful lady! She was full of life, laughter, spirt and love. She was so special and lived life to the fullest. She was one of a kind and I will treasure the times and laughs we shared forever! We have peace knowing you are with your "Eddie".....rest in peace dear one...you will be in our hearts always!
