Phenix City, Alabama- MSG Robert "Bob" Clouatre, 67, U.S. Army (RET), of Phenix City, Alabama, died Sunday May 12, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:00pm EST Wednesday May 15th in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N/280 W, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with the Reverend Marvin Minton officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Alabama. The family will receive friends Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
MSG Clouatre was born February 5, 1946 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, son of Leslie J. Clouatre, Sr. and Dorothy Weist Clouatre. He retired from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service. Military awards include the Bronze Star medal (2 awards), Purple Heart Medal (2 awards),
Army Commendation Medal (5awards), Combat Infantry Badge, numerous other personal and unit citations and medals. Other than his parents Mr. Clouatre is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie Mae Norris Clouatre.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Brown Clouatre , sons and their spouses, Roger and Lynn Tanton, Joel and Robin Shumate, Gene and Tammy Shumate, Brian and Amy Shumate, stedaughters, Chiela and Brittany Brown, sisters, Victoria (Bobby) Lucas, Denise Johnson, brother, Leslie J. Clouatre, Jr., 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. To offer condolences please visit www.shphenixcity.com.
