Columbus, GA- Mrs. Rosa L. Green of Columbus passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. She was the beautiful age of 100 and resided at 1041 Diggs Avenue.
The daughter of Willie and Lizzie McCrary Mason, Mrs. Green was born in Talbotton, GA on October 9, 1913. A former resident of E. Chicago, IL, Ms. Green was retired from St. Catherine's Hospital and upon relocating to the Columbus area joined the Rose Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Green, Sr. , and a beloved daughter, Barbara J. Buckner.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: a son, William Green, Jr.; four grandchildren, Charlene Buckner McCoy (Reginald), Shannon Buckner (Zulema), William J. Green and Tyeshia N. Barker (Andre); six great grandchildren, Iyana Little, Candace Buckner, Shannon Buckner II, Marcial Buckner, Xavier Bank and DeMarquez Mallard; one great great grandchild, Jaylen Carter; a sister, Juliette Owens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Green will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Riverdale Cemetery. Rev. Alphonzo Whitaker will officiate. Visitation is Today, 2 til 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 12:15 the day of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
