The information of Steve's passing just reached me. I have had the honor and pleasure of knowing Steve since the early 1990's. He was one of the original sales persons at my start-up company, American Lightwave Systems/ADC. Steve had an uncanny sales ability to question a customer and get the right information out of them, in order to structure the right deal. He was a southern version of Detective Columbo so to speak. To the customer he came across simply and humbly, but to us it was clear he knew the technology, the product and the deal. He was dumb as a fox.

However my fondest memories of Steve were from travelling with him around the country - those quality times when you get the opportunity to know someone well. I learned about Steve's background, his character, his faith, his personal challenges. And many years later after we had both moved on to other companies, we would occasionally see each other to catch up on family and share news, whether times were good or not so good.

Steve was a very kind man, who it took a lot to get upset, and just didn't let the small stuff bother him. He genuinely liked people and they liked him back. I will personally miss him very much. Memory Eternal.

Steve was a great guy. We worked together and I have very fond memories of those days. We stayed in touch after going our separate ways and I visited a few times for the Spring race at Talladega and fishing in Panama City. I know he had a lot of great friends and am happy to have met so many of them. My thoughts a prayers go out to all.
