Willie Person Obituary

Willie B. Person August 5, 1899- January 5, 2007 COLUMBUS, GA— After a long, well spent life, Mrs. Willie B. Person died Friday at her residence. She was a blessed 107 years old and resided at 922 Booker Avenue in Columbus. Daughter of the late Ned and Rebecca Holland Jones, Mrs. Person was born in Seale, AL. on August 5, 1899. A life-long resident of Seale, Mrs. Person had lived in Columbus for the past three years. She was a retired farmer, still harvesting crops from her 80 acre farm in Seale well into her 90's. She was a devout member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and its Usher Ministry. She was the widow of William Person. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary Butler of Columbus, Mrs. Mattie Jackson and husband Jim of Phenix City and Mrs. Dorothy Davis of Detroit, MI.; one brother, Mr. James Jones and wife Mary of Columbus; a devoted niece, Mrs. Willie Gillenwater of Richmond, VA.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Person will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Saturday after a 12 noon Celebration of Life service in the sanctuary of the church. Pastor Samuel Johnson will deliver the Eulogy, with Rev. Ernest Snead presiding. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Saturday at 11:15 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
