Arthur Wyman Thurber

SARASOTA, Florida -- Arthur Wyman Thurber, Sr., 81, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at his home in Sarasota, Florida after a long and difficult battle with cancer.  Arthur was born in Medford, Massachusetts and lived throughout New England, most recently in Bennington, New Hampshire until he relocated to Sarasota, Florida in 2008.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Barbara Thurber, and his brother, Willis. He leaves his longtime companion, Janet Kane, of Sarasota; his sister, Jeanne Thurber, of Windham, Maine; his children, Arthur Thurber, Jr. and wife, Jackie, of Ellsworth, Maine; Heather Murata and husband, Albert, of Honolulu, Hawaii; Heidi Fisher, of Canaan, New Hampshire; and Peter

Thurber and wife, Amy, of Canaan, New Hampshire; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Arthur served in the intelligence branch of the US Air Force, held management positions in the automotive industry, and also operated his own business.

He enjoyed traveling with his young

family and, in later years, cruising extensively with Janet.

Services with full military honors will be held Friday, June 9 at the Sarasota National Cemetery located at 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
