Beulah H. Smith

1946 - 2016

JAFFREY -- Beulah H. Smith, 69, of Jaffrey, died peacefully on August 27, 2016 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a period of failing health.

She was born on October 29, 1946, in West Acton, Massachusetts, daughter of the late James and Genevieve (Zdunzyck) French. She was a 1965 graduate of West Acton High School.

Mrs. Smith was a dedicated worker; she had retired in 2010 from New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough after working for over 30 years there.

She enjoyed every minute spent with family, especially her grandchildren, and will be remembered fondly for her sense of humor and sarcasm which always kept you on your toes. Beulah enjoyed playing golf while her health allowed, and always enjoyed visiting Nubble Light in York, Maine.

Beulah was predeceased by her husband, Charles D. Smith, Jr. on December 26, 2008, and by her son, Michael S. Smith, on November 26, 2012.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Mary Wakeman of Stoddard and Melinda Powers of Jaffrey; her five grandchildren, Dylan Powers of Peterborough, Natasha Elms of Fort Ann, New York, Bobby Wakeman of Tilton, Brian Wakeman and Mercedes Wakeman, both of Stoddard; her two sisters, Marilyn Murphy of Suncook and Janet Landry of Massachusetts; her brother, James French of Colorado, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make memorial contributions in Mrs. Smith's name to the NH Veterans Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 626, Concord, NH 03302-0626, or to the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 11 am to noon, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.

Funeral Services will be held at noon, immediately following calling hours on Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Daniel Osgood will officiate at the service. Burial will be at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
