We wanted to share a wonderful memory of a few years ago in Italy when we were so blessed to share an evening together. Life`s timing can be amazing. Just like it did in Canada when two families united together for a wonderful fun filled time. Who would´ve ever thought special connections could last a lifetime. Our sincere condolences for you and your families loss. What a life that was lived in the most gracious and fulfilling away. We love you guys The Mann Family

We remember Gary as one of the kindest, friendliest men we knew. He was a happy person that really seemed to enjoy life. He was a delight to be around, always telling stories, reciting poetry or sharing interesting tidbits of history. We will miss him but have many fond memories to look back on.

I'm sad to hear of Gary's passing. I knew him when we were Jesuit Volunteers together on the reservation in Omak, WA. Gary was a whirlwind of energy in those days. The children loved him. I remember that one of his jobs was to bring the hot lunch from the Mission school down to the local parochial school in Omak where some of our students went to school in a mutual agreement to help both schools, one lacked teachers, the other lacked classrooms. At any rate, he always created an aura of hilarious chaos when he arrived with the food. I remember Sister Margaret being beside herself sometimes. The incident that he is fondly remembered for (by me anyway) was the celebration of Perry Moore's birthday. Perry's nickname was Meathead and Gary came roaring into Sr. Margaret's classroom with the grub calling out, "Today's Meathead's birthday! Happy Birthday Meathead." He also worked with the Native students in an attempt to build a traditional subterranean house. He had such energy... We were so happy when he joined us in the Redwoods in 2012 and I believe he was here for the reunion here in Omak in 2014. I will send you pictures once I gather them up. Blessings to you all and know that we are saddened to hear that Gary has passed on.

There is so much love in our hearts for this special man. Jules and Gary were a magical team. In adventure, love, tragedy and joy, they walked together and walked, and walked. Gary had a way of sharing his light, peace and laughter that always drew in us and our family. The cowboy poetry was epic! We loved every minute of it, whether it was Gary or Harley taking us on that journey! That will remain in our family history forever! We will always treasure our friendship. Next to his beloved Jules, Gary traveled the world, and they returned with new knowledge and stories that enriched the lives of his friends and family. Their children and grandchildren have a legend to live up to. He loved mightily and he made sure everyone felt that. Rest in peace, my friend. Jules and family, you are in our hearts during this difficult time but we know you have so many wonderful memories to carry with you.

In memory of Gary, who showed me the passion of hiking. Whether hiking through golden forests or simply sharing stories over a glass of prosecco, Gary's presence made every experience brighter. Though he may be gone, his spirit will forever live on in our memories. Wishing peace and comfort to all who were touched by his remarkable spirit.

First and foremost, our Condolences to the whole Peyton family, we meet Gary and Julies in 2010, Gary led me to the HOA meeting at Blackrock and pasted me the torch to serve, but not without saying (I will help you all the way), and that he did, what a great mentor, friend and way more than that, a great person, and of course a club favorite. I also had the opportunity to stay and walk the grounds of Highbush Farms , and let me tell you it was a piece of art , and truly a working farm, and yes what a great smile and story teller he was of his land , with that I just want the family to know how magical it came across to me, true love of the game, we will miss him but his legacy will live on , RIP Gary

Last year about this time Gary and I found ourselves to be the lat two people at the Flora Farm pool. We sat in the pool for two hours, swapping jokes, and poems. We recited a couple Robert Service poems together, Dangerous Dan McGrew and The Cremation of San MaGee. By the time we had shared a fraction of our stories and a pitcher of margaritas, a new friendship was born. I am only sorry it came so late in his wonderful life! I join so many others in missing him. Gods Speed dear friend.

Daughter Anna´s first job was picking Gary´s blueberries. His first hire, with her friend Holly Paterson, i think. Anna texted me when I sent her the news. "So many memories. If any of us loves something like Gary loved his blueberries you know you´re doing it right." He loved visiting with people who picked his berries too. Leaning in. Interested in others. A good good man.

What a beautiful cowboy poem for a wonderful, loving and truly original man. He inspired us, like many others, to see our world in new ways and to relish life to its fullest. We are so fortunate to have our memories of the special time with him and his partner in life, Jules!
With love to you all and raising a glass high,

It is difficult and painful to respond concerning a soul so beloved by so many. We count ourselves as honored to be Gary´s friend from "The Farm" in Los Cabos, but also a friend for life. What an extraordinary man. He will be missed by so many. And thank you Brooke for a most beautiful piece about your dad. We loved him (And love your Mom)
