Jack Schelling Obituary

Jack Schelling

Manchester NH — Jack Schelling, 71, a lifelong resident of Manchester, NH passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 29th at his home in Manchester.

Born on July 5th, 1950, in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Major Thomas H. Schelling and the late Eileen Farrell Harding. Jack worked at Public Service Company of NH for 36 years. He started as a meter reader in Peterborough, NH, eventually working his way up to becoming an Efficiency Program Administrator in the Marketing Department for both residential and commercial applications, with the focus of his expertise in energy conservation and lighting. He was involved in numerous community organizations such as Kiwanis, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center. He loved to give back wherever he could, which is a testament to his kind nature.

Jack was a highly engaging individual with a tremendous zest for life and a wonderful laugh. After his retirement in 2014 Jack enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife Pam, and good friends Doug and Linda MacDonald. He had a passion for skiing and would take frequent trips with his ski buddies Rich Chagnon, Jerry Dee, Steve Hall, and Michael Lafond. Every Tuesday during the season he would go golfing with his golf buddies Doug MacDonald, Mike Domingue and Burt Widener. Every night after supper he would walk the neighborhood with his beloved dogs, Spirit, and Baylee, alongside his good friend and neighbor Lance Mendel. They became known as the Ambassadors of the neighborhood, stopping along the way to talk to everyone they could. Jack was known for his stories and could start a conversation with a rock. And the rock would like it.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Pamela (Rozell) Schelling, his daughter Katharine June (KJ) and her husband Samuel Creager of Los Angeles CA. Also, his brother Mark Schelling and wife Tara of Doylestown, PA, brother-in-law Bill Rozell and his wife Teri of Parkesburg, PA, their daughter Melissa Rozell of Washington D.C., an Aunt Margaret Farrell of Agawam, Ma, several cousins and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

SERVICES: Calling hours are from 2pm to 4pm, with a Service of Remembrance beginning promptly at 4 pm, on Thursday, June 9th, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Make-A-Wish or UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center in his name. To leave a message of condolence, please go to www.lambertfuneralhome.com.

The following quote by H.S. Thompson perfectly describes Jack to a tee! "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow! What a Ride!"
