John Mitchell McPhie

Edgewater, FL - John McPhie, 88 of Edgewater FL, died peacefully on July 12, 2025.

John was born in Jaffrey, the son of Maurice and Rose Ellen (Foster) McPhie. He was a proud member of Conant High's Class of 1954. After graduation, John enlisted in the Navy. He completed an engineering degree at Northeastern and earned an MBA from Babson.

John spent his entire career working at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory. He completed his tenure by serving as the Assistant Site Manager at the Kwajalein Missile Range in the Marshall Islands. John and Patty then moved to Edgewater, Florida and enjoyed a 27-year retirement.

John was kind and generous - always willing to lend a hand. He was proud of his Scottish heritage, wearing his kilt at every possible occasion. John loved spending summers at his home in Wareham MA and walking his beagle Tommy Boy.

Above everything else, John was selflessly and fully devoted to his family. His love for his wife Patricia and their children, Laura McPhie Oliveira and her husband Greg, Cynthia McPhie Perkins and her husband Chris and Christopher McPhie was complete and unwavering. He loved being Grampa John to his grandchildren, Danny, Sean, Megan, Dave and Bree and his great granddaughters Leila, Kenzy and Adalyn.

The family thanks the staff at Diamond Edgewater for caring for John during his struggle with Parkinsons/Lewy Body Dementia. A celebration of John's life and burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will occur at a later date.
