Judith Emery Millican Bixler Collier

Peterborough NH — Judith Emery Millican Bixler Collier, 92, peacefully died of natural causes on December 3, 2021.

She was the daughter of Capt George and Mrs Grace Emery. She grew up on a ranch in Colorado during the Depression and lived in many parts of this country during her father's naval service. She lived and taught kindergarten and/or first grade on American military bases in Germany and Chateauroux, France as well in Waltham, MA.

She married Robert G. Millican of Winchester, Massachusetts and his four daughters: Janet M Todd of North Bennington, VT; Nancy M Rogers of Woolwich ME; Margaret M Rikert of Portland, OR; Kate M Harlow of Rowley, MA. They then added a son: Andrew E Millican of Sudbury MA. Judith was involved in the activities of the Winchester Congregational Church's Youth groups, The Garden Club, and became President of the Winton Club.

Upon Dr Millican's passing, she married Herbert E. Bixler of Jaffrey, NH who had 3 grown children: Agnes B. Kurtz of Dartmouth, NH; Elizabeth Bixler of Ithaca NY, and Sidney Bixler (who predeceased Judith). She lived in Jaffrey for many years, singing in the Monadnock Chorus, assisting children to get proper dental care as well as many other philanthropic causes.

Upon the passing of Herb Bixler, Judith married Abram T. Collier and became involved in the lives of his four grown children and their families: Debbie C. Zug of PA ; Linda C. Kenerson of Wellesley, MA; Joyce C. Fernside of Peterborough NH., and Charles W. Collier, who predeceased her.

Abe and Judy Collier moved to the RiverMead Retirement Community in Peterborough, NH in 2004 where Judith became a Trustee and participated in a full and energetic lifestyle. Travel, art, music and friendships were highlights. Abram Collier predeceased Judy by 13 years.

Judith's understanding of and kindness to people made her beloved by friends and staff there. She is honored and will be sorely missed by eighteen grandchildren and many more great grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held for Judith at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Peterborough NH in the spring.

When my mom moved into Rivermead 6+ years ago Judy called her up and took her to dinner. Most recently they were both together in the assisted living community and Judy actually attended my moms funeral/wake on November 5th and was offering comfort to my family. She was extremely special and always addressed my daughter and I by name....she had an amazing spirit. My condolences to her family.
