Karen Evelyn Heskey

Derry, NH - Karen Heskey passed away peacefully at Grand Strand Hospital on December 13th, surrounded by her close friends who had seen her through long illness. Karen was born in Boston, Ma on June 2, 1944 to Evelyn and David Crawley. After Mr. Crawley's death serving his country, Karen's mother married Richard George who became the only father she ever knew.

Karen was an honors graduate of Girls' Latin School in Boston and William Smith College in Geneva, NY. Her degree in political science led her to the banking profession, first in New York City following graduation, and then in Boston and North Andover, Ma. She rose through the ranks as a loan officer dealing with business loans over a million dollars. Eventually Karen became a Vice President at the First National Bank of Boston at a time when women were struggling to "break the glass ceiling." Her career continued to meet success when she and a partner opened a bank consulting firm. In June 1973 Karen married George Heskey, the love of her life. They were married for 37 years until George's passing in 2010. In 2013 Karen resettled in Myrtle Beach from Derry, NH. In her new 'neighborhood', she embraced retirement in the Southern climate, and her life was filled with friendship, fellowship, and her dog Vader. Karen was admired by her friends for her kindness, generosity, and particularly her quick wit.

Karen is survived by her sister Cheryl Orcutt of Peterborough, NH, her brother-in-law William Heskey of Northborough, Ma, and her sister-in-law Jeanne Zabchuk of Newton, Ma. A celebration of Karen's life will be held with friends and neighbors at the Reserve in Myrtle Beach, SC on February 4th, 2022.
