Lorna Brown Obituary

GREENFIELD – Lorna Rowena Brown, 60, formerly of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, died at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire on January 21, 2018, after a brief illness.

She was born to Thelbert and Marjorie (Tucker) Brown on March 14, 1957 in Randolph, Vermont where she was the fifth generation to live in the Brown homestead in Bethel, Vermont. She was raised in St. Johnsbury and was a 1975 graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy. On December 30, 1979 she married Michael Brown in Naples, Florida, and after several years in Florida they returned to Greenfield, New Hampshire where they built their own home. Michael passed away on November 18, 2002.

Surviving members of Lorna's family include her mother, Marjorie Brown, of St Johnsbury, Vermont; sisters, Neuane Adcox of Montpelier, Vermont; Nola (David) Forbes of St. Johnsbury, Vermont; Laurel (Brian) Rivers of Ft. Worth, Texas and Aleta Feeney-Brosseau and husband, Paul Brosseau of Southport, North Carolina; brothers, Delaine (Elaine) Brown of Scarborough, Maine; Doran Brown and Fiancé, Julie Anderson, of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her Uncle Cecil "Pete" Tucker, several cousins, many nieces, nephews and their families.

Lorna's father, Thelbert Brown, brothers-in-law, John Adcox and Paul Feeney, and a sister-in-law, Michelle Brown, preceded her in death.

Lorna was a longtime resident of Greenfield and although Lorna never had children, she always had an array of pets including chickens, birds, dogs, and her beloved Kitty. She had several hobbies that included playing the guitar, gardening, knitting, crocheting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and her many New Hampshire friends.

She had worked for Jewell Instruments in Manchester, New Hampshire since 2005, and was a hard-working individual with many work friends. Her mother, siblings, and friends were able to be with her the past few weeks to reminisce and share memories about growing up in a large family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Greenfield CCC Food Pantry, 12 Depot Drive, Greenfield, NH 03047 or the Community Hospice House 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054.

Lorna you were my best friend.
We lost touch after your marriage, but I always searched for you.
I never found you until the other day.
In a sweep of devastation, I went from excitement to great sorrow.
It breaks my heart that I found you and won't be able to celebrate.
You and Guess will always be at the top of the list of my most wholesome memories.
We grew up together and celebrated everything "earthy & good" as well as a few, fun & mischievous adventures.
Thanks for being a good part of my life for so many years.

Here's to you:

I will not stand at your grave and weep.
You are not there.
You do not sleep.
You are a thousand winds that blow.
You are the diamond glints on snow.
You are the sunlight on ripened grain.
You are the gentle autumn rain.
When I awaken in the mornings hush,
You are the swift uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circling flight.
You are the soft star that shines at night.
I will not stand at your grave and cry.
You are not there. You did not die.

Till we meet again
Ruth

I only worked with her for a short time at Jewell, not closely, but she always seemed to have a wonderful smile. Just brightened my day to say "hi" in the hallway.
