Louis Hebert Obituary

PETERBOROUGH - Louis V. Hebert, 60, of Peterborough died peacefully on Feb. 22, 2014 while surrounded by the love and support of his family after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Louis was born in Swindon, England on June 12, 1953, son of Edmond and Sybil (Collins) Hebert Jr. He was raised in England and France before moving stateside to Antrim and graduating with the very first class from Con-Val Regional High School in 1971. Louis then earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the former Hawthorne College in Antrim.

Louis served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg in N.C. After his honorable discharge in 1982, he worked as a self-employed contractor throughout the Durham, N.C. area before his health challenges forced him to return home to Antrim.

Louis was an avid New York Yankees fan and didn't mind the bantering which always took place at family gatherings. He was also a huge NASCAR fan and Louis's family firmly believes that he had the best seat in the house watching his favorite driver, Dale Jr., win his second Daytona 500 the day after he died. Louis also enjoyed cooking, card games, and loved to travel anywhere.

In addition to his parents, Louis is survived by his three brothers; Edmond J. Hebert of Antrim, Allen G. Hebert of Portland, Maine and Bryan W. Hebert and his wife, Marta, of Antrim. Louis also leaves his niece, Elisabeth and his nephew Bryan, both of Antrim, and a large extended family across the United States and England. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his niece, Angela Hebert.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, N.H. 03452. Rev. Msgr. Gerald R. Belanger, Pastor of the Divine Mercy Parish, will officiate. Full Military Honors will follow the service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Family and friends will continue to celebrate Louis's life from the time the services conclude until 12 Noon at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers at the Pheasantwood Care and Rehabilitation Center for their love and tender care through Louis's illness, and invite all who wish, to please make donations in memory of Louis to their Activities Fund, at 50 Pheasant Road, Peterborough, N.H. 03458 in recognition of their wonderful care and support. Although I didn't know Louis, my heart goes out to his family. There's a verse in the Bible that comforts me where it says that one day no one will say "I am sick." A hopeful future indeed. I will remember you all in my prayers.
