Louise Bryant Obituary

RINDGE – Louise Truslow Grummon Bryant, 78, (1939-2017) passed away peacefully at her home in Rindge, on October 2, 2017 with her loving husband of sixteen years, Ward C. Bryant, at her side.

"Pat" -- or "Patty" as she was known by most people – was born on February 27, 1939 in Summit, New Jersey. When just six, her parents, Robert Morgan Grummon and Louise Truslow Grummon, moved their young family to the Gray Goose Farm on Squantum Road in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.

Pat attended various Jaffrey schools and graduated from the Northfield School for Girls in 1957. She attended The College of Wooster in Ohio where she met her first husband, James H. Seiberling, father of her three children. She later transferred to the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating in 1962 with a B.S. in Nursing.

In 1974, after living in Akron, Ohio, Pat returned to her family farm where she continued to raise her three children and care for her mother. She worked as a nurse at Monadnock Community Hospital, and continued her nursing career at numerous private and hospital-related medical practices in Jaffrey, Dublin, and Peterborough, New Hampshire. She was renowned for her kindness and caring in the Monadnock area medical community.

Pat was an incorporator at the Cathedral of the Pines and spent many hours as a volunteer working on the gardens there. She inherited her parents' love of vegetable and flower gardening, and throughout her last summer she tended her home garden as often as she could and made sure everyone enjoyed its offerings.

Gracious, kind, pragmatic, and full of irreverent humor and candor until the end of her life, Pat always remained a "glass half full" optimist despite every obstacle and challenge that she faced along the way.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Louise, in 1974 and 1985, her brother Daniel N. Grummon in 1976, and her sister Joanne G. Dotchin in 1997.

She is survived by her husband, Ward C. Bryant, and her three children, their spouses and six children: Catherine S. Pond and husband, Temple, of Nancy, Kentucky (grandchildren: Adriana of Centennial, Colorado, and Henry and Eli of Nancy); James M. Seiberling of Chester, Vermont and wife, Jennifer Jones; and Robert G. Seiberling of Van Alstyne, Texas (grandchildren: Jacob, Penn, and Erin).

Pat is also survived by her elder brother, Dr. Robert A. Grummon, of Lafayette, Tennessee, and younger sisters Carolyn G. Taylor and husband, Robert, of Old Town Farm in Peterborough, Frances G. Stevens and her husband, James, of Southfield, Massachusetts, as well as eight nephews and nieces, and many dear friends and others she worked with or cared for throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held at the Cathedral of the Pines, 10 Hale Hill Road, Rindge, NH, 03461, on Saturday, October 28, at 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cathedral of the Pines would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of you, Ward. And how when Bill would call you on the phone, she would answer and he
would say to me how sweet she was. I was looking through my album the other day and found photos of your wedding - what a great day. Loved watching your true love adore you as you sang. Hugs from Janet.

"Pat-Pat", as my sister and I called her, was a very special cousin since early childhood, the eldest daughter of my Mother's twin sister. Although in later years we did not see much of her (since we went to France to live in 1953) she was always very close in our hearts. Now she reposes in peace after a life which counted many personal trials which she always overcame with courage and faith. We will cherish her memory.

I'm sending love to all of the extended Robert Gummon clan on behalf of all of the Stuart Grummon family--my brother Ethan, my cousins Whitney and Wilder Grummon, and our extended family, and especially on behalf of our belated parents Judy Grummon Nelson (who died on 9/21/15) and John Grommon (who died on 9/12/17). Much love, Hilary et al.

Louise, "Pat-Pat" for my sister and I (daughters of her mother's twin sister) was a part of our lives since early childhood, even if we had not seen much of her in later life (we went to live in France in 1953). However, the link was strong and today the feeling is of having lost a dear sister. May she now repose in peace after a life full of personal trials which she always overcame with great courage and faith. We will treasure her memory.
