PETERBOROUGH - Martha A. Phillips, 67, of Peterborough, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015 while on vacation in Mexico. She was born Mar. 5, 1947 in Chelsea, Mass., daughter of the late Daniel E. and Eleanor Mae (Hubner) Carroll.

Mrs. Phillips was a Navy wife, and she loved entertaining for her husband and his associates. Friends were very important to her and she enjoyed times when she could cook, entertain and have friends over. Family was also very important to her and she loved her entire family. Later she became Clerk of Court for Nashua District Court for many years; she was a secretary for Kinghorn and Maynard Law firm and then worked for the Superior Court. She then dropped out of the "rat race" entirely, working at Shaw's in Melrose, Mass. when she moved there to take care of her mother. Mrs. Phillips had been a communicant of St. Peter Catholic Church of Devine Mercy in Peterborough and also Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Nashua where she was involved with the Youth Groups as well as couples retreats.

She is survived by her two daughters; Jennifer Banuskevich and her husband Curtis of Peterborough and Danielle Phillips and her significant other Derek McFarland of Peterborough, three grandchildren; Andrew, Meagan and Kacey, four brothers; Daniel E. Carroll Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., Charles Carroll of Wakefield, Mass., Michael Carroll of Homosassa, Fla. and David Carroll of Wakefield, Mass., a sister; Rosella DeBowe of Leesburg, Fla. and also by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Howard A. Phillips in 1987 and by her aunt Sister Eleanor Marie Hubner.
