Robert Kipka Obituary

PETERBOROUGH -- Robert 'Bob' Kipka, 83, of Peterborough, died suddenly and unexpectedly on January 28, 2017 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

Bob was born on June 3, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Ross E. and Marion (Albin) Kipka. He was educated at the Hawken School, Phillips Academy Andover, and Yale University. He served in the U.S. Army for two years as First Lieutenant in an artillery unit stationed in Germany.

Following his service, Robert worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Cleveland before moving to Gloversville, New York in 1962. There he met and entered into an eleven year marriage to the former Rovena K. Scribner. Together they had three sons, Campbell A. Kipka, Colin D. Kipka, and Alexander E. Kipka. In 1970, he moved to Peterborough, where he built a successful real estate business. He regularly attended All Saint's Church and Keene State College.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jessica, Rachel, and Katherine, and by his six grandchildren, Chloe, Astrid, Natasha, Mather, Catrina, and Nathaniel. His kindness and good humor will be long remembered by his community, friends, and family.

At Bob's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in All Saint's Church, 51 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH 03458.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to All Saint's Church for the local food bank.

Bob was my roommate at Green House during our sophomore year at Andover. I wish I had known he was in Peterborough because I hve been living with my partner Toni in Gill, MA for the past year, and I would have looked him up. Larry

I didn't see "Kip" often enough, but when I was fortunate enough to be in his company, he deployed his terrific, quirky, upbeat sense of humor...one of his finest "weapons". And it was such a pleasure to hear him speak of his sons and their families. Wonderful people all, whom he helped shape. Lynne McEwan

Sending condolences from Hawken School in Gates Mills, Ohio. Our thoughts and prayers are being sent to the family during this time. Bob was a long time "Class News Secretary," assembling news and stories from classmates for the Hawken Review magazine and loyally supported the school's Annual Fund. He will be missed
