June 27, 1930 - December 3, 2013
Passed away suddenly on December 3, 2013, Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years Hilda, Daughter Wendy, sons Adrian (Renee) and Dylan (Tillie) and grandson Kieran. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Ken's Canadian journey took him from Montreal to Sudbury, Hamilton, Ottawa and Vancouver. Loved music and books and had strong opinions which he was always willing to share. Ken and Hilda moved to Vancouver in 1969 and launched Dix Insurance Agencies. For 42 years, they served their clients and their community before retiring in 2011. Hilda, Wendy, Dylan, Tillie, Kieran, Adrian, Renee and his friends and former clients will miss him. In lieu of flowers and to honour his love of literacy, donations in Ken's memory can be made to the ONE TO ONE Literacy Society, Room 204 – 1130 Keefer Street, Vancouver, BC V6A 1Z3 or online at www.one-to- one.ca. Friends and family will gather at Kearney Funeral Services, 450 West 2nd Avenue, Vancouver BC on Thursday December 12th at 2:00 p.m.

I was very sorry to learn of Ken's sudden passing - my condolences to all of his family and many friends. I only wish I'd had the opportunity to know him more - but he was always such a friendly and inviting person every time I did see him.

Our relationship began with the search for our first house over 40 years ago, followed by insurance of course. Developed into a true friendship over the course of many years, many shared meals, coffees, family events and wonderful talks. We will miss the wonderful man. Sincere Condolences to Mrs. Dix and the family. Throughout my working life in Kerrisdale, Mr.Dix and Dix Insurance gave continuity to the commercial high street. The sociability and congeniality shared with the community was an important contribution, and will be missed.
