Aaron Mark Applequist died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Mn of natural causes, at age 55. He was born Sept. 4, 1957 to Rudolph A. Applequist and Marjorie [Rustad] Applequist in Crookston, and was baptized and confirmed in the Hafslo Lutheran Church, rural Crookston. His mother was stricken ill in 1959 and he went to live with an aunt and uncle, Mayme and George Gilbertson, at Duluth, Mn. He later came back to rural Crookston to live with his siblings and uncles, Melvin and John. He graduated from Fertile School in 1975. He lived in the Minneapolis area after graduating, with many of those years spent working for a landscape contractor. In the late 1980's he became disabled, yet still worked part time at various jobs. Despite his illness he was a kind, very friendly, thoughtful, and gentle GIANT, with a deep faith in God. Left to mourn Aaron is a special friend, Francie Riehm of Minneapolis; siblings: Rudy Applequist, Judy Magsam [Jerry Sandberg], and Howard and Pam Applequist, all of Crookston, Richard and Connie Applequist of Sioux Falls, SD, Jacalyn and Bob Clark of Keshena, Wi, and Janine Applequist (Tim Badley) of San Jose, Costa Rica; nieces and nephews: Rhonda and Larry Amundson and Crystal, Geffery and Lillie Magsam, Alyshea and Garrett, Gwen and Dale Feist, Lee and Tiara Applequist and Oliver, Cami Applequist, Cori Applequist, Laura Clark and Alaster and Robert Clark; and an aunt, Orella Rustad Of Crookston. Also many special cousins including those who were more like siblings, Janice and Mike Sullivan and family, and Jim Gilbertson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie in 1961 and Rudolph in 1962, a brother-in-law, George Magsam; uncles, Melvin and John Applequist, and Orville Rustad; aunts and uncles: Mayme and George Gilbertson, Arnie and Dorothy Rustad, Cleo and Bill Charchenko, Julia Temanson, and Margaret Pett. May God richly bless the memory of Aaron Applequist. We wish to thank everyone who was a part of Aaron's life including those who lifted him in prayer. Thanks also to Stenshoel Houske Funeral Home for your help in our grief. A grave side service of memories will be held Monday, May 27, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the Hafslo Cemetery, rural Crookston. Memories can be sent to Cami Applequist at 255 East Kellogg Blvd #510, St. Paul, Mn 55101, officiant for the service.
