HANIFF, Abdool Isaiah (Sonny) 1923 - 2010 Sonny born on June 18, 1923 in Guyana, South America was a Veteran I (Infantry Division - Allied Forces) between 1939 - 1945; Non-Commissioned Officer of the Guyana Police Force; CQM. SGT of the Guyana Defense Force; Chief Inspector of GEB Security, Drill S/Major of Guyana National Service; S/Sgt. of Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and Shift Superintendent at National Defense HQ - Retired in 1994. Abdool (Sonny) Isaiah Haniff, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 17, 2010 passed away peacefully at 4:22 p.m., at the Ottawa General Hospital. Devoted husband of 64 years to Clothilda. Beloved father of Kenrick (Carlotta), Joyce (Claude Headley) and Tyrone (Susanna). Proud grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 19. Survived by his sister Khatoon, who resides in England. Uncle to many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews in Canada, England and Guyana. Sonny lived his life to the fullest and family was the most important part of his life. Our thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Ottawa General Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Resurrection Of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 1940 Saunderson Drive, Ottawa on Saturday January 23 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwod Cemetery. In memorium donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Dearest Mom, Joyce, Tryone & Family, Kenneth and Family:

Our sincere condolences on your loss. Dad as we call him was very special and always made us feel so special. I spoke with him in December 2009 on his wedding anniversary. He made me laugh as usual. We will surely miss him. I kept every Christmas card he sent us. In mourning his death, we can all choose one valuable quality he had and incorporate it in our own lives.
