Adam Melnychuk Adam Melnychuk passed away suddenly and peacefully in his home on December 25th, 2008. Memorial Service will be held at the chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Adam was born September 15th 1937 in Krydor, Saskatchewan, the only son of Nick and Kay (Herman) Melnychuk. Adam lived with his parents and grandmother in the Krydor /Redberry district, until his dad purchased the BA gas station in the mid 40's. He worked at the gas station with his parents and then later began speed skating. He trained nightly for the Olympics and later skated with the Follies (Shipstad & Johnston) always maintaining his amateur status. He went to Mayfair School and Tech after which he worked in real estate at Engineered Homes, later owning his own company Professional Real Estate and then working for Boychuk Realty. He enjoyed holidaying in Mexico where he met his wife Mary, the former Mary Larter from Alberton, P.E.I. They got married in 1967 and raised their two children Marc, who now has his family, wife Kim and their children Justin and Kjersten Melnychuk and his daughter Aletha Melnychuk. Adam's whole life revolved around his friends and family. Doting on his wife, he could rarely keep a secret gift for her in his pocket until the right day. He enjoyed travelling, his last trip to P.E.I. with his wife, and his dog and best friend Jake, and Cuba with the whole family being two highlights. He worshiped his children and grandchildren. Sneaking Marc and Aletha to the store for a Caramilk and Cream Soda and always making sure that chocolate milk and treats were around for the grandchildren's arrival. He enjoyed entertaining and was never happier than when he was surrounded by his friends. He treated all his friends like the family that they were to him, never saying a harsh word and always leaving the door open for company, good cheer, good times, and great memories.
