Alan Bernard Castillo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 20 to Mar. 21, 2023.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved son, brother, uncle and nephew, Alan B. Castillo, 65 of Las Cruces, NM, who passed away February 10, 2023. Alan was born November 10, 1957, in Santa Ana, CA to Cipriano and Estella Garcia Castillo. Alan is survived by his parents, and siblings: Diane Sperling; Lori and husband, Eric Johnson of Fountain Valley, CA; Virginia and husband, Steve Shupe of Las Cruces; Albert Castillo and wife, Maritza of Oceanside, CA and Joseph Castillo and friend, Beth Miles of Las Cruces. Alan grew up in Huntington Beach, CA, which he loved. As a teenager, he would carry his surfboard on his bike to the beach in the early mornings. After High School, he studied horticulture and never stopped devoting time to various species of plants. Alan was an extraordinarily kind son and brother. He was upbeat and had a humorous demeanor. He was talented in music, sang, played guitar and occasionally karaoke. Alan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cipriano Castillo, Sr. and Amalia Chavez Castillo of Los Chavez, NM and his maternal grandparents, Salvador and Lucy Otero Garcia of Garfield, NM. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, March 27, 2023, mass at St. Genevieve Church 100 South Espina St, Las Cruces, NM, rosary at 9:00 A.M followed by holy mass at 9:30 A.M.
