Alan Roberson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2025.
Alan Y. Roberson, 60, of Ormond Beach, FL, died at his home Tuesday, April 1.

Alan was born in Big Spring, TX, on Dec. 20, 1964, into a US Air Force family and was raised in Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and West Virginia as his father's Air Force career moved the family around the country. Alan was a graduate of McCluer North High School in Florissant, MO, and attended the University of Missouri. He worked mainly in retail sales in the electronic and automotive finance industries in Missouri before returning to Ormond Beach.

He was the stepfather of four children -- Rachelle Harley of San Antonio, TX; Joshua Hartzler of Jefferson City, MO; Jessica Hartzler of Loose Creek, MO; and James Hartzler of Warsaw, MO.

Alan enjoyed the beach, rock music, motorcycle riding, and target shooting. He was an active and committed member of Providence Baptist Church in Ormond Beach, where his church family was an important part of his life.

Alan is survived by his stepchildren and by three siblings - David H. Roberson (spouse Nancy) of Chattanooga, TN; Phil W. Roberson of Concord, NC; and Ann M. Young (Dana) of Chesterfield, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Bettye W. Roberson of Manchester, TN, by his twin brother John M. Roberson, and his older brother Mark S. Roberson (Christine) of Oldsmar, FL.

A celebration of his life will be held at Providence Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 31. The family requests that, instead of flowers, memorial gifts should be made to Hope Place of Halifax Urban Ministries in Daytona Beach, FL.

I just found out about Alan´s passing. It is devastating to hear. We met at the WW II tower between our two houses on the beach. He was a good friend! He will be missed I take comfort in knowing we will see each other again.

Alan was charming, charismatic, kind, generous, fun, ambitious, cool and fun to be around. Last time we spoke he told me of his love for Jesus Christ and the Kingdom that awaits us. I truly cared for him and cherished our time spent together. I knew Alan for over thirty years. He will forever be missed and I'm heartbroken to learn of his passing.

Alan was a bright, shining light in all of our lives. His smile and laughter lit up every room he walked in. He was the best man in our wedding and now, he and Mark are walking the streets of gold together, along with their brother, John. See you soon!

What a blessing it was to know Alan through our church small group. His testimony was the validation that all things are possible with God. I had the privilege of going shooting with him just a few weeks before his passing. He was a great shot and provided much needed instruction. He will be missed dearly.

Alan was a sweetheart and will be missed by many of us. I always enjoyed getting to have little chats with him and sweet brotherly/sisterly hugs on Sundays and Wednesdays at church. He was always very pleasant and kind. He was a blessing to all of us, who knew him. Until we meet again Alan, keep singing those sweet old hymns that we loved. When I get there, I will join in with you!

We will miss Alan. I remember meeting him for the first time during Covid when Don taught the only BFG that was meeting. He loved the Lord and we praised the Lord together many Sunday mornings at Providence. I pray comfort for his family and friends,
