Albert Rimar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 29, 2024.
Albert Bernard Rimar, age 100, passed away August 16,2024. He was born May24, 1924 in Detroit, MI, to Sylvia and Ralph Rimar. He lived through the depression, and fought in Europe during World War II after landing in Normandy on the fifth day after the invasion. But he never let these events shape his life in a negative way. He became a dedicated husband for seventy years to his wife, Gloria, whom he met on a blind date. He was a loving father to his three children, and always found time to play baseball, vacation, camp, sail, and advise. His humor and quotes were renowned; as reflecting his military influence. He was a full-time member of the Air National Guard as a hydraulic specialist for most of his life, until he retired at age fifty-five. He loved airplanes and obtained his general pilot's license when he was sixty-eight. In retirement, he and Gloria traveled and were always involved with their grandchildren, spending summers on Lake Huron, and winters in Florida. He lived through many historical events, and in his passing, took with him knowledge and insight we will no longer be able to query. He will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his sister, Diane Rimar; son Steven Rimar (Janet); daughter Nancy Rimar-Howard. Loving grandchildren: Ryan (Carol) Howard; Leah and Zachary Howard; Kalen Rimar (Sarah), Lauren Latin(Itamar), and Alex Rimar. Adoring great-grandchildren: Jacob and Hannah Rimar; Isaac and Lev Latin. Albert was the beloved husband of the late Gloria Rimar, and father of the late Susan Mescher.
