Albert Taylor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2024.
Albert Lee Taylor, lovingly known as Al or Popa to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, at the age of 85. Al was born on October 27, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Albert and Ruth Taylor.

He was preceded in death by His "Dove", Carol, Parents: Albert and Ruth Taylor, Brother: Bruce, Sons- in- law: Chad Glanco and Richard Paxton, Grandchildren: Jeffrey (JT) Ulibarri, Taylor Glanco and Ted Miller.

Al will forever be remembered as a beloved father to Kim (Bill) Naploszek, Dana (Rick) Ostrica, Allison Jordan, Michelle Glanco, Doug (Lisa) Taylor, Tim (Rory) Taylor, Kristie Paxton, Matt (Katie) Taylor, and granddaughter Lyndsay (Todd) Heaton.

He was the cherished Popa of Kourtni, Jordan, Kyle, Camie, Crosby, Lexi, Riley, Jake (Katie), Madison (Jack), Colton, Hunter, Delaney( Malachy), Logan (Carlie), Ivie, Talullah, Will and to great-grandchildren Korbin, Cayden, Isabelle, Avery, Addilynn, Kora, Elliette, Jack, Dellah, Camden and Poppy.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Diane Taylor.

One of Al's greatest joys in life was serving God. He became a dedicated and baptized worshiper in 1955 and faithfully served Jehovah for 69 years. His strong commitment led to him serving as an elder in the congregation.

Al had a zest for life, and along with his wife, Carol, they were known for their love of people, their hospitality, as well as their generosity. There were no strangers in their lives and their door was always open.

Al had a long and successful career in the floor covering industry, ultimately opening a store called Rainbow Carpet, with his Brother-in-Law, Mel. He was a true professional in business, leaving a lasting impact with his honesty, expertise and dedication.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially golfing with his buddies or boating with his family and friends. Al was fond of the simple pleasures in life, from a quiet evening at home to watching a sunset at Harry's Old Place. His love for all genres of music was undeniable, and he especially loved live performances.

When it came to food, Al had a soft spot for Angelo's PMS pizza or a good burger from Whitey's. He also had a sweet tooth for ice cream and chocolate. That love for all things sweet, led him to, later in life, perfect his world class cheesecake recipe, that he enjoyed sharing with his loved ones.

Al will be dearly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His infectious personality left an impression on all he came into contact with and those that knew him well, will cherish the moments they spent together.

A memorial service to celebrate Al's life will be held on August 17th, 2024 at 4pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 24000 Royalton Rd Columbia Station, Ohio.

I am 16 years old flying down the highway in a car that was smoking because I never change the oil and of course the car breaks down. I couldn´t call my dad. He would´ve killed me so I called Al. Al, father of eight after spending probably 10 to 12 hours working that day dropped what he was doing and got me on the side of the road and arranged to have my car towed, he lectured me the entire way home about how irresponsible I was being about how speeding doesn´t get you anything but killed, about taking care of your car being extremely important and told me to grow up. I was so relieved to have him come and get me a little bit scared because he was mad , and it only took me 40 years to figure out that every word he said was 100% correct! I smile when I think of it, because he treated me like one of his kids and I will always be grateful for. See you very soon Al! Thank you for everything!
