I am not sure why I even decided to look the Windsor Star on line today. It is something I have not done in years.
I am really saddened to read about Aldo who , whether he even knew it, was a constant for me when I was growing up. I can still smell that wonderful reassuring scent that filled my nostrils when I would step into the store and make my way back to the meat counter to get from Aldo whatever it was my mother had sent me for.(And I am talking about the store at the corner of Parent and Hanna!)Schincariols' was an intricate part of my childhood as was Aldo who I am not surprised to read considered himself "the happiest man in the world". I wonder if he knew just how much that happiness rubbed off on kids like myself. Perhaps reassurance is a better word for it. A cheerful constant that help guide me through some scary moments. I remember how glad I was when I saw him at my father's funeral as part of the Dean Wagner Colour Guard that carried him to his grave. Your father was there!
I am sorry to say that, oddly enough, I didn't really know his family, although I recently met one of his daughters looking at horses at the Royal Winter Fair here in Toronto.
His passing must be very upsetting for you. Please accept my condolences. I shall share this sad news with my sister Helen as she, as I, had a real fondness for him. A fine man... truly a local icon where we grew up.
May he rest in peace.

Dear Zia, Anita, Kathy, Lorene, Donna and families,
I am so sorry to hear of Zio Aldo's passing. I want you all to know that I am thinking of you and sending my deepest sympathies.
There are certain very vivid memories that I have of my childhood; all of you girls in your Sunday best at church, your beautiful house on Cabana Road and most of all, shopping at the market! We always got a hearty greeting and a hug from Zio Aldo and Mom got to catch up on the "news" over the meat counter. I hope you all know how special those memories are to me.
May your happy memories sustain you for years to come.
Much Love,
Susan

To All the Schincariol Family,
Aldo was such a gracious and kind man. I remember going into the store on errands from my Nonna when I was young and having him come forward in his white apron to help me. No request seemed too small or difficult. And of course our paths crossed many times over the years and from these I particularly remember his rich voice and his warm smile.
Our sincere condolences.

I was saddened to hear of Aldo's passing. My father John Schincariol and I visted the market on occasion when I was a child, as I did myself in latter years when passing through Windsor. The Schincariol Market was a marquee for the Schicariol name. Please accept my deepest sympathies. Anthony Schincariol-Barrie Ontario
