I miss you. Everyday. Not a day goes by where I don't think of you. How you always told me I could do anything because I was so strong. I thought the same of you. I know you are resting easy. I just ask that you continue watching over us. Rest easy sister, and know that you are missed.

Aleida,

We were so going to write that book together. Damn, you left a gaping hole in my heart. Remember that rainy afternoon in Bagram, when we sat in the truck together and just laughed and laughed trying to get the right take on that interview? Baby, you were so lively and happy. I guess that's why your loss hurts so much. You were always so loved and cherished. You always will be. We ache for you, Sista. Watch over Reagan and Kennedy from above. They need you. We all need you.

I took a class with Aleida at Manhattan College in 92 or 93. She was a bubbly beautiful person. I saw her again years later at an in service course for Yonkers teachers. She was still as bubbly and sweet. I remember seeing her again with her oldest daughter and I so admired how so in love she was with her daughter. I regret never writing to her while she was on tour even though I thought about it several times. God is a merciful God. I will be praying for her and her girls.

I never had the chance to actually meet you but I would sit in Eco/Gov in Mr. Bordas' class and he would speak very highly of you. How proud he and your girls were of their mother and how much they missed you. I do however, remember that you had a smile on your face everyday I passed your classroom when I was in 10th grade. May you rest in peace Mrs. Bordas. We will miss you! May you watch over those that were inspired by such a courageous and strong woman!

Today I bid farewell to the most amazing and influential woman in my life. She took me under her wings when I came to the US and treated me as her own. I am where I am today because of the faith and trust she had. Anything I can say wouldn't do justice on how much of an influence she had on me. A great mother, wife, soldier, friend, and above all an inspiring teacher, you are and will forever be my role model.

Words seem inadequate to express my sorrow over your loss. May the memories of Aleida and the love of family surround you and give you strength in the days ahead.

~ O Jesus, Who has said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened," I humbly and urgently ask that You comfort Aleida's family and friends in this time of need, giving us all the strength to bear the burden of our grief.

~ Father; receive Aleida into your heavenly home, grant unto her, eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

~ May the Holy Spirit guide Aleida, through calm waters, giving her a gentle breeze to bring her safely home to Christ. In Jesus' holy name we pray. Amen.

Dear LS1 Bordas family,
I was very stunned to learn about the death of Aleida. I still cannot believe that she died so unexpectedly. However, as they say, the one who is adored the most by the God, is the one who achieves eternal life. We will miss Aleida, and we will cherish all the happy memories from our deployment in Afghanistan 2010. May your soul and heart find comfort and peace. Fair wind and following seas!
