Alex Chi-Wang Wong, 57, of Bedford passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 in a tragic car accident.
Alex is best remembered by his family for his welcoming smile, kind heart and love of soccer. He also knew where to get the best Peking duck and introduced the family to traditional Chinese dishes and delicacies often. He is survived by his wife Nellwyn Wong of Bedford; his daughter Tiffany Wong; step-children Layla Adams, Micah Adams and wife Charla, and Jody Adams; adopted daughter Janis Parthun; granddaughters Madeline and Liv Adams; brother Charles Wong and wife Flora; nephews and nieces Jerik Wong, Adrian Wong, Curtis Yip, and Amber Yip.
Born in Hong Kong, China on May 17, 1957 to the late Yun Tao Wong and Mo Sheung Miu, Alex was motivated early on to achieve success. He moved to the United States in 1977 and received his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkley and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State. He served as a Senior Program Manager since 1995 in the Traffic Operations Division of the Street Services Department for the City of Dallas. He was instrumental to the success of many city transportation and traffic operations projects and nominated for awards by his peers. In addition, Alex actively participated in many civic organizations such as the North Texas Chinese Engineers and Architects Association and the Association of Asian City Employees. He enjoyed playing indoor and outdoor soccer as well as taking walks with his wife Nellywn and dog Preston. He was a collaborator, mentor, role model and friend to many in the community, on the soccer field and at home.

I knew Alex from working with him at the City of Dallas. He was such a joy to work with, so helpful and knowledgeable. I hope his family will know how much we here at the City depended upon him and enjoyed the time we spent with him, which was cut off much too short. I am so sorry for your loss, and pray that you will remember his warm smile and generous nature. We here at the City Attorney's Office will certainly remember him as well. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; may the Lord lift his countenance upon you and bring you peace.
